Bronzeville Week celebration set for August 3 – 10, 2024
The City of Milwaukee’s annual celebration of African-American culture, history, art, commerce, and entertainment will take place August 3 – 10, 2024 when the 2024 Bronzeville Week convenes, hosted by Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs.
The 2024 Bronzeville Week, a formal City of Milwaukee-sanctioned event and celebration heading into its 13th full year, was approved by the full Common Council today. It was recommended for approval by the Community and Economic Development Committee on September 27 with a resolution designating August 3-10, 2024 as Bronzeville Week in the City of Milwaukee. Each August since its inception, Bronzeville Week has gained a growing community following, featuring a diverse collection of performances, cultural events, and activities throughout the summer week.“I am looking forward to Bronzeville Week 2024 next August because the Milwaukee community’s support for this annual event echoes our shared excitement about the vibrant African-American culture within our city,” said Alderwoman Coggs.
The Bronzeville Cultural and Entertainment District is a redevelopment initiative by the City of Milwaukee, drawing inspiration from the historic Bronzeville of Milwaukee’s past. Its mission is revitalizing the neighborhood where African-American culture has deep roots and foster economic growth in this predominately African-American community.
