Bronzeville Week Continues with Events Highlighting Fashion, Wellness, and More
Bronzeville Week, an official City of Milwaukee event hosted by Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs now in its 16th year, continues this week and includes a variety of family-friendly events, vendors, and exhibitions that promote health, art, culture, commerce, and a positive atmosphere in the Bronzeville district for all to enjoy.
On Tuesday, August 4, Building Bronzeville, a panel discussion with local members of the development community, starts at noon at Bronzeville Kitchen & Lounge, 2053 N. Dr. MLK, Jr. Dr. Moderated by Deshea Agee, the panel will feature Carla Cross, Nicole Robbins, Ray Hill, LaShawndra Vernon, and Donna Page. At 2 p.m., Jadah Webb will host the 30-minute makeup tutorial Glow Like Bronzeville – Naturally You. The event will be held virtually and can be viewed on https://www.facebook.com/BronzevilleWeek. The day concludes with Tuesday Tacos & Games from 7 – 9 p.m. at Summer of 85, 2213 N. Dr. MLK, Jr. Dr.
Events continue on Wednesday, August 5 with the annual Bronzeville Business Breakfast from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. at America’s Black Holocaust Museum, 401 W. North Ave. Registration is required and can be accessed at HistoricKingDrive.com/breakfast. From noon – 4 p.m., Rooted ‘N Natural, an indoor/outdoor community experience of open learning, confidence, and healing through natural hair, will take place at Allah Mode, 1942 N. Dr. MLK, Jr. Dr. Line Dancing with Lady Jai Janay from 4 – 6 p .m. rounds out the day. The event will take place on Garfield Ave. between Dr. MKL, Jr. Dr. and Vel R. Phillips Ave.
Thursday, August 6 begins with Cool Aid & Canvases. This fun, interactive, kid-friendly paint session takes place at noon at the King Library, 2901 N. Dr. MLK, Jr. Dr. Later that day, the Milwaukee Police Department District 5 will host its National Night Out celebration from 3 – 7 p.m. at James Beckum Park, 900 W. Brown St., and Carver Park, 911 W. Brown St. There will be two Bronzeville Trolley Rides offered Thursday afternoon. The first will begin at 3:30 p.m., and the second at 5 p.m. The trolley will pick up riders at America’s Black Holocaust Museum, 401 W. North Ave. The day concludes with a new event, the Bronzeville Fashion Show. This platform for storytelling, entrepreneurship and community pride will take place from 7 – 9 p.m., also at America’s Black Holocaust Museum, 401 W. North Ave.
