Attorney Susan Roth Announces Candidacy for Milwaukee County Circuit Court Branch 7

MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee Attorney Susan Roth today announced that she will seek election to Branch 7 of the Milwaukee County Circuit Court in the Wisconsin Spring Non-Partisan Election on April 7, 2026, for the seat currently held by the Honorable Thomas J. McAdams.

Attorney Roth said of Judge McAdams, “Judge Tom McAdams has announced that he is not seeking reelection and his current term ends August 1, 2026.  He is owed the gratitude of the legal community and the residents of Milwaukee County for his service. After two decades as a Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney, and several years in private practice, he served for over four years as a Commissioner and Former Acting Chairperson on the Wisconsin Tax Appeals Commission, before being elected to the Milwaukee County Circuit Court in 2013.  I admire his breadth of experience in both criminal and civil law, and his devotion to public service.  I thank him for his friendship and mentorship, and wish him well in his next life chapter.”

Attorney Susan Roth, a Milwaukee native and Bay View resident, received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2004, and a Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School in 2007.  She practiced in the state and federal system as a litigation associate at Kohn and Smith for six years, before becoming a partner at Kohn Smith Roth in 2013.  In 2022, Attorney Roth became a Judicial Court Commissioner in Milwaukee County, which is where she currently serves.

Roth states, “My years of experience in private practice provided a solid foundation as a litigator.  I had exposure to a diverse array of legal issues and clients in both the state and federal system, as well as the experience of being a partner in a small business in our community.  My progression to being a public servant as a Court Commissioner allowed me to develop a new skillset.”

“As a Court Commissioner, I must effectively run a heavy court calendar while giving all parties their opportunity to be heard and making judicial determinations after hearing or reviewing evidence. I believe this experience makes me well qualified to become a Circuit Court Judge. The fair administration of justice requires a knowledge of the law, appropriate judicial temperament and not just the appearance of fairness, but true impartiality towards everyone before me and an open and inquisitive mind.”
