Each spring, Riverside Park's Urban Ecology Center is THE place to be to meet local farmers who grow food sustainably and learn how to buy directly from them. The annual Local Food and Farmer Open House event has grown since we first organized it ten years ago to help our community connect with local Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), farmers. Now over 1,000 people attend each year, the number of CSA farmers attending is over 20. During the rest of the year, our community can visit the Center and our web site to learn more about CSAs and where to find local farms. Combining southern charm with big city street smarts, Sonya White’s stand-up performance will be based off her real-life experiences and interactions with friends, family and the world at large. Her decades of comedic success include performing on television stations such as HBO, Comedy Central and NBC, as well as opening for Kathy Griffin, Lewis Black, the Chicago Music Awards and more. We're off to the races! Monarch Lounge at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center, located in downtown Milwaukee, will be celebrating the 143rd Kentucky Derby with a party from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 6th. During the Derby event, the Hilton Milwaukee will offer photo opportunities with horses and Millie, the Hilton's seven-month-old canine concierge, in 6th and Green, the hotel's outside courtyard. In addition to watching the races, partygoers will be able to enjoy specialty derby cocktails, such as the Triple Crown Collins and mint julep, as well as a la carte food buffet.
