MADISON, Wis. — In response to the Supreme Court’s decision to clear the way for the Trump administration’s voter suppression executive order to restrict mail-in voting less than three months before the midterms, WisDems Chair Devin Remiker released the following statement:

“Yesterday, just months after hollowing out the Voting Rights Act, Donald Trump‘s bought-and-paid-for Supreme Court cleared the way for Trump’s and Republicans’ latest attempt to further limit voters’ access to the ballot box. As Republicans’ scramble in the face of an overwhelming defeat in the midterms because they know voters are determined to reject their cost-raising policies, Trump and Wisconsin Republicans like Tom Tiffany, Derrick Van Orden, and Bryan Steil are hoping that undercutting our democracy will save them come November. Wisconsin Democrats have fought tooth and nail for the right of Wisconsinites to vote in free and fair elections before—and we aren’t afraid to stand up against unprecedented federal overreach again.”
