Dem Gov Nominee David Crowley Calls Out Maga Congressman Tom Tiffany for Refusing to Stand Up for Wisconsin’s Farmers and Manufacturers Against New Tariff Taxes
“Tiffany, who represents Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District and strongly supports the administration’s trade strategy, has historically defended the tariffs…Rep. Tiffany’s office has not yet responded to requests for comment.”
MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Following Donald Trump’s most recent round of tariff taxes, his favorite member of Congress, MAGA extremist Tom Tiffany, refused to say where he stood on the new 50% tariff on Canadian imports. Experts have previously described Canada as the “single most important trading relationship” to Wisconsin, and that “Wisconsin’s biggest exports tend to be heavy machinery (or) electrical machinery, the big expensive stuff that really drives good paying jobs. If there was something that disrupted access to that market, that could potentially have serious consequences for Wisconsin’s economy.”
The most recent round of tariffs are being met with “dollar-for-dollar” retaliatory tariffs from Canada that are “targeting key American exports like dairy, agricultural machinery, steel, and electronics.” Fear across Wisconsin’s agriculture and manufacturing sectors is growing as the most recent tariffs “could soon hit Western Wisconsin’s farms and factories right in the pocketbook….[and] could be incredibly painful for our local economy.”
“MAGA Congressman Tom Tiffany can stay silent but we know where he stands after backing every single one of Trump’s previous tariff taxes,” said Democratic gubernatorial nominee David Crowley. “Congressman Tom Tiffany has already shown that, as governor, he would be incapable of standing up to Donald Trump and working with Wisconsin’s most important trading partner. I’m running for governor to fight for our farming communities, to bring economic stability and create good paying jobs by working with our allies, and to do whatever I can to stop Tom Tiffany’s extreme MAGA agenda from further hurting Wisconsin.”
Crowley, who has done over 30 events all across Wisconsin this past month, is hearing from voters that they are tired of the chaos and higher costs being driven by Congressman Tiffany’s and Trump’s extreme MAGA agenda. Inflation numbers show that Wisconsin households are paying $2,267 more on average for everyday essentials since Trump took office.
Tiffany has been clear about his love for tariff taxes, saying “I support them. I mean, tariffs have certainly had an impact,” which explains why he has voted to protect Trump’s tariff taxes seven times. This has cost Wisconsin companies and consumers approximately $3.5 billion in tariffs between March and December of 2025. In addition, farm bankruptcies increased 700% in 2025.
