Second Annual Apprenticeship Day a Resounding Success
On Thursday, April 16, Alderman DiAndre Jackson hosted the second annual Apprenticeship Day at City Hall. The event seeks to expose high school-aged students to career opportunities in various skilled trades positions. Throughout the day, attendees met with representatives from various employers and unions, learned more about careers in the trades and what it takes to land an apprenticeship, and were exposed to hands-on demonstrations, among much more.
“Jobs in the trades are a fantastic career path for young people as they offer stability, growth potential, competitive pay, and many other benefits. My goal in hosting Apprenticeship Day has been to show local students how fulfilling these jobs can be, and connect them with people who will be looking to fill apprenticeships in the near future,” said Alderman Jackson. “I want to thank all of the sponsors and partners, particularly MPS, who helped make this happen, and I look forward to growing the event in the future.”
Nearly 200 attendees from across the city participated in Apprenticeship Day.
