Senate Democratic Leader Dianne Hesselbein (D-Middleton) Celebrates Passage of Gail’s Law

Senate Democratic Leader Dianne Hesselbein (D-Middleton) released the following statement after the Wisconsin State Assembly passed Gail’s Law:

“Increasing access to lifesaving screenings for women at higher risk of breast cancer is a goal we have fought for over several legislative sessions. What a good day, today, to see the Assembly pass Gail’s Law after the Senate voted in October 2025, 32-1, to approve it. Making it possible for the 50% of Wisconsin women who are at higher risk of breast cancer to afford the preventative care they need will improve survival rates, reduce costs, and, put simply, is the right thing to do. This is a necessary, compassionate, and long overdue step. I am in awe of the focus, perseverance and courage of Gail’s family in moving this bill forward and grateful we found the bi-partisan will to get it done.”
