“Not Worthy of the Uniform,” Wisconsin Radio Rips Rep. Van Orden for Attacking Military Generals

Rep. Van Orden, who has made a habit of picking political fights with anyone who disagrees with him, trashed American generals in an interview on the Vicki McKenna show this week, claiming they turned wars in Iraq and Afghanistan into “vanity projects” and suggesting U.S. military leaders were motivated by personal promotion rather than national security.

This morning, Wisconsin radio host Pat Krietlow called out Van Orden for undermining the military, saying, “His disdain for his own leaders brings comfort to enemies and gives pause to young men and women who might now second-guess whether to serve because of his whining.”

Krietlow reminded listeners that Van Orden himself stood on the Capitol grounds on January 6th and rallied for Donald Trump’s Big Lie. Krietlow went further, questioning Van Orden’s fitness to serve at all, saying, “He simply lacks the emotional temperament to defend our country from enemies, foreign and domestic. … It’s not just that he’s not worthy of the office. He’s not worthy of the uniform.”

From attacking generals to smearing teachers and doctors who exercise their First Amendment rights, Van Orden has made clear that he views political disagreements as threats and public service as an opportunity for grievance. His service in Congress has become, as Krietlow said, “too much of an embarrassment for his district, for the state, and frankly, for the country.”
