City Year Milwaukee Hosts First-Ever Women’s Leadership Breakfast

Milwaukee, WI. December 9, 2024 –Year Milwaukee proudly hosted its inaugural Women’s Leadership Breakfast, an inspiring morning dedicated to learning, reflection, and connection. The event brought together over 160 attendees at the Northwestern Mutual Corporate Headquarters to celebrate women’s leadership and explore collective action for community change through the lens of education.

The morning featured an empowering panel discussion moderated by Lauren Feaster, CEO of Professional Dimensions and a City Year Milwaukee alumna. Lauren was joined by a distinguished group of women leaders: Dr. Kathryn Quadracci Flores, CEO of QuadMed Onsite Health and Wellness; Cecelia Gore, Executive Director of the Brewers Community Foundation; Tina DeGustino, Regional President of the Wisconsin Region at BMO U.S.; Julia Uihlein, Retired, Medical College of Wisconsin; and Francesca Mayca Wegner, President and Chief Possibilities Officer at Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee. Each panelist shared invaluable insights and experiences, emphasizing the transformative power of collective action in driving meaningful change.

Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez also participated in the event, offering remarks on the vital role of women’s leadership in building equitable, thriving communities. Her address underscored the importance of inclusive leadership in driving sustainable change.

Following the panel, City Year Milwaukee AmeriCorps members facilitated table discussions that allowed attendees to engage in meaningful conversations and share ideas for collective impact. This opportunity also allowed AmeriCorps members to develop their facilitation skills, contributing to the collaborative and empowering spirit of the event.
