Local favorite talk show host Jeff Wagner to be honored with MAFW’s Citizen Support for Our Armed Services Award

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Armed Services Committee announced today that Jeff Wagner will be presented with the 11th Annual Citizen Support for Our Armed Services Award on Monday evening, May 16, at the annual Armed Forces Week banquet held at the Wisconsin Club of Milwaukee.

Wagner has been an active supporter of MAFW, and has served as the emcee for the Armed Forces Week Banquet for nearly ten years.

“I am both honored and truly humbled,” Wagner said of being selected this year’s award recipient. “Being involved with [Milwaukee Armed Forces Week] is one of the true joys of my professional life.

The Citizen Support for Our Armed Services Award recognizes individuals who support and serve the Armed Forces in outstanding ways as civilians. Past recipients, among others, include Dan Buttery, Iraq veteran and president and CEO of the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center and Capt. James Lovell, former NASA astronaut in both the Apollo 13 and Apollo 8 missions.

For eight of the last nine years, and seven years in a row, Wagner has been named one of the 100 Most Influential talk radio hosts in America by Talkers Magazine. He is a graduate of Nicolet High School, the University of South Dakota and Marquette University Law School. After law school graduation, he spent about a dozen years as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin where for several years he headed the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force. In 1995, he began filling in as a talk radio host and started full time with WTMJ in 1998. Wagner was the Republican candidate for Wisconsin Attorney General in 1994. After residing in Whitefish Bay for almost 30 years, he currently lives with his wife Fran and their Pomeranian pooch Sasha in Mequon.
