MPM and The Yabuki Family Foundation Partner to Help Families

MILWAUKEE – The Yabuki Family Foundation has kicked off the Milwaukee Public Museum’s (MPM) third annual Giving Day by providing a $100,000 match to support memberships for disadvantaged families in the Milwaukee community.

“On Giving Day, MPM sees the best in our community through its support of this beloved institution,” said Dr. Ellen Censky, President & CEO of the Milwaukee Public Museum. “From the schoolchildren who donate the money in their piggy banks, to adults who give in honor of decades worth of visits, to businesses and philanthropic organizations like the Yabuki Family Foundation who recognize the value of cultural institutions, Giving Day is a great illustration of the Museum’s broad impact throughout our state.”

“We are proud to partner with the Milwaukee Public Museum to provide opportunities for 4,000 local families to experience unique and compelling educational experiences over the next year,” said Jeff Yabuki, President of The Yabuki Family Foundation. “We are also excited to support a matching gift program to help spur the generosity of the people of Milwaukee and Wisconsin.”

To distribute family memberships to those most in need, MPM and the Yabuki Family Foundation have partnered with numerous nonprofits and educational organizations that serve local families, including: the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, Bruce Guadalupe Community School, Haymarket Hillside Neighborhood, Hmong American Peace Academy, Journey House, Lighthouse Youth Center, Milwaukee Public Schools, Neighborhood House, Next Door Foundation, Pathways High School, Penfield Children’s Center, Red Cross of Southeastern Wisconsin, Silver Spring Neighborhood Center, Sixteenth Street Community Health Clinic, Sojourner Family Peace Center, St. Augustine Preparatory School and UW-Milwaukee.

Donations made on Giving Day support MPM’s ongoing efforts
In addition to providing 4,000 Museum memberships for Milwaukee families, The Yabuki Family Foundation will match the first $100,000 donated to MPM on Giving Day.

The 24-hour Giving Day program on Thursday, April 29 asks the Wisconsin community to help MPM meet its mission through donations. Funds raised will support the Museum’s world-class exhibits and scientific research, care for its priceless collections and provide programming, educational opportunities and community outreach efforts that bring nature and culture to Wisconsinites around the state.

Those who donate on Giving Day will be entered to win select prizes from MPM. Prizes include a behind-the-scenes tour of the Zoology collection, a free membership and handmade animals crocheted by MPM President & CEO Dr. Ellen Censky, and an opportunity to appear in an original Daniel M.
