MILWAUKEE – (February 2, 2021) – The Wisconsin Center District (WCD) today announces the promotion of two members of the WCD staff. Effective immediately, Jeremie Ott will serve as the Vice President of Public Safety and Guest Services, and Steve Totzke will be the new Vice President of Information Technology.

“Jeremie and Steve have proven they’re an integral part of the senior leadership team at the WCD,” said Marty Brooks, president and CEO of the WCD. “The past year has been a challenge for us all, and I commend both Jeremie and Steve for their dedication to the WCD. Public safety and IT have never been more important, and as we look to the future and the completion of the Wisconsin Center expansion, larger meeting and convention business will require best-in-class support. I have no doubt that Jeremie and Steve will deliver on this need.”

Ott joined the WCD team in 2008 and has continued to demonstrate progressive responsibility and leadership within the Public Safety department. Public safety is a top priority for the WCD and Ott’s continued work to improve the relationships and knowledge-base that he and his team have with peer organizations, law enforcement, and homeland security is critical to earning business and keeping the WCD staff and clients safe. Most recently, Ott spearheaded the smooth execution of the 2020 Democratic National Convention (DNC), GBAC Star™ Accreditation and executed all COVID-19 policies and procedures at all three of the WCD facilities.

Totzke joined the WCD team in 2018 and is responsible for overseeing the digital infrastructure and security at each of the WCD facilities. He has implemented industry best practices and strengthened the IT team to meet the WCD’s evolving demands. He created an infrastructure that is safe and secure for everyday use. In addition to rebuilding the WCD’s internal IT framework, Totzke and his team seamlessly worked behind the scenes to secure and validate the WCD’s ability to support the inaugural virtual DNC this past summer. Totzke also supports the IT needs of VISIT Milwaukee.

As part of the $420 million expansion project, Ott and Totzke will work to blend the digital and physical experiences for clients while also focusing on operational efficiency and security. The expansion will double the convention center space, allowing the WCD to host multiple events simultaneously and offer flexible space arrangements to meet various clients’ needs. Ground-breaking is anticipated for late 2021, and the new building is expected to open in early 2024.
