Public Father’s Day celebration for the community this Sunday
The event will feature free haircuts for fathers and sons, complimentary food and non-alcoholic beverages, horse rides, raffle prizes, live entertainment and informational vendors representing various entities within the community.
Alderman Khalif J. Rainey said the public is invited to the 31st Annual (Community Unity) Father’s Day Celebration this Sunday – June 16 – at Sherman Park, 3000 N. Sherman Blvd.
Organized by Fathers for Progress – a group of entrepreneurs and individuals within the community dedicated to the unification of family and the community – the free event will take place Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The event will feature free haircuts for fathers and sons, complimentary food and non-alcoholic beverages, horse rides, raffle prizes, live entertainment and informational vendors representing various entities within the community.
“I encourage you to attend and celebrate the contributions of fathers throughout our community,” Alderman Rainey said.
Fathers for Progress originated in Milwaukee in 1988 with the concept of recognizing responsibility, fatherhood, community involvement, and positivity.
