September 19, 2018 — Milwaukee, WI. The 2100 Urban Residence, a 148 square feet apartment community, located on Mayfair Road in Wauwatosa, was hand-selected to receive the Green Infrastructure Grant from the Metropolitan Milwaukee Sewerage District in recognition of features that mitigate the stormwater impact.

In addition to the grant,  Altius Building Company, along with owners, J.E. Hoffman Management, and AG Architecture strived throughout the project to obtain LEED certification.  This past week the team was informed they had achieved LEED Gold certification.

Obtaining LEED certification consists of undergoing a technically rigorous process, including the incorporation of green strategies to make efficiency and healthy indoor environments. The sound design and operation of the home are then tested and measured. “LEED represents a commitment to making the world a better place and influencing others to do better,” said Mahesh Ramanujam, president, and CEO, USGBC.  The 2100 Urban Residence includes a green roof, native and “thirsty” vegetation, and carefully planned paving to prevent runoff, and electric car charging stations.

Given the extraordinary importance of climate protection and the central role of the building industry in that effort, Altius Building Company is proud to have been a partner in this project
