Fun, Fun, Fun at the Night Market
Food, art, drinks, games, dancing, tours and more. The crowd ate it up.
More than 100 food, art, home goods, and corporate business stands lined the streets of the first day of the fifth annual NEWaukee Night Market, held last night and scheduled to be repeated once a month through September.
The free, outdoor event by social architecture firm NEWaukee turned W. Wisconsin Ave. between N. 2nd St. and N. 4th St. as well as part of N. 3rd St., an area usually meant for cars to pass through, into a fun, safe space packed with people of all ages.
There was far more to do than just shop. You could roast a tasty s’more at the GRAEF Lounge or play a game of life-sized chess or checkers. You could also dance to some fun tunes with the DJs of True Skool. Kahler Slater gave guests a virtual tour of the Grand Theatre, which will soon be the home of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. 88Nine Radio Milwaukee introduced guests to new music or a new story via their “Listening Project.” You could even snap a picture with a wandering, bubble blowing stilt walker from Pantaloons Productions or even with the Bronze Fonz.
Don’t fret if you missed the event, as NEWaukee is hosting it again on July 11, August 15, and September 12, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. each night.
In the meantime, check out our photos from the event below. You can also check out — and compare — our photos of the first and final days of last year’s NEWaukee Night Market.
