MPS Schools Awarded for Academic and Behavior Excellence

MILWAUKEE (June 6, 2018) — Milwaukee Public Schools earned 12 out of the top 16 awards for academic excellence and positive behavior from an annual statewide report, including the only school recognized at the platinum level for excellence in all content areas. The independent organization Wisconsin RtI Center recognized a total of 108 MPS schools within their report at Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum levels.

Gold Level for Behavior and Reading

Gold Level for Behavior and Mathematics

Gold Level for Mathematics and Reading

  • Barbee Elementary School
  • Hampton Elementary School
  • Honey Creek Elementary School
  • Humboldt Park Elementary School
  • Lincoln Avenue Elementary School
  • Longfellow School

“Improving academic achievement and the behavioral culture in our schools are two of my priorities for success,” MPS Interim Superintendent Dr. Keith Posley said. “It is an honor to see our MPS schools recognized in the platinum and gold levels statewide. Congratulations to our teachers, principals, district-level administrators, students, and families, for working so hard to improve.”

Wisconsin RtI Center is an organization that helps schools implement a research-based multi-tiered system of support. These frameworks include Response to Intervention (RtI) behavior – Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) that focus on building strong school environments and providing supports to children.
