United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County Names Amy Lindner New President
Mary Lou Young agrees to continue to serve as United Way CEO through January 2019
Milwaukee, WI. (October 9) – United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County today announced the appointment of Amy Lindner as President of the organization, effective January 1, 2018. It is the intent of the Board of Directors to elect Amy as the President and CEO in January 2019.
Lindner currently serves as the Executive Director of Meta House, a Milwaukee-based non-profit whose mission is to end the generational cycle of addiction by healing women and strengthening families. During this time, Lindner was named a 2015 Milwaukee Business Journal 40 Under 40 award winner, a Fellow by the Wisconsin Law Foundation, a 2014 Community Leader by the Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee, a 2013 Women in the Law by the Wisconsin Law Journal, and a 2012 Philanthropic 5 winner by the United Way of Greater Milwaukee.
Prior to her work at Meta House, Amy spent ten years representing Wisconsin businesses in intellectual property and other business disputes at the firm of Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren. During this time she served as the Chair of the Wisconsin State Bar Intellectual Property Section, and was recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2010, 2011, and 2012.
“We conducted a rigorous search process, including a thorough review of the qualifications and criteria needed for our next leader,” said Greg Marcus, President and CEO of The Marcus Corporation and current chairman of the United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County Board. “Amy is a strategic thinker experienced in managing complexity and solving problems. We are grateful that Mary Lou has agreed to our request to continue to serve as CEO through January of 2019 while we work on enterprise-wide United Way Worldwide digital engagement initiatives. During the transition, Amy will report directly to Mary Lou.”
The search committee, comprised of United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County Officers of the Board, included Chair Greg Marcus; Vice Chair Cory Nettles; Secretary Lynn Sprangers, Immediate Past Chair David Lubar; Labor Council Representative Sheila Cochran; and Community Impact Committee Chair Linda Gorens-Levey.
Lindner will be the first Latina president of United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County. One of her top priorities will be engaging more of our community’s amazing young professionals with United Way.
