Milwaukee is a diverse city with numerous events happening every weekend. The Third Coast Daily photo team visited several of them last weekend and has a photo gallery from the “Intro to Bread Making” class at Braise, Present Music season finale, Family Kite Fest, Ivy Spokes at Yield Bar, and Happy Hour at Brocach. Just a small sampling of what our fair city has to offer.

Thursday | “Intro to Bread Making” class at Braise
A unique “Intro to Bread Making” class was held last Thursday, May 23 at Milwaukee’s Braise Restaurant & Culinary School. The evening started off with a thirty-minute reception featuring a complimentary cocktail and a “Braise Bite” h’orderve.
Don’t miss out on Braise’s next culinary school classes, “Intro to Sausage Making” and “All Things Garlic!”. For more information or to purchase tickets visit Braise’s website
Friday | Present Music finale
Present Music completed their 2012-13 season with a blow out event at Turner Hall Ballroom Friday night. Music, dance, and art installations filled the space of the ballroom including a cupcake wall of more than 3,000 cupcakes make by Brooke Thiele and Lilly Coyle with art projections by Emily Sheider called Life Among the Ruins. The concert concluded with an after party with area ska band Something To Do as concertgoers danced the evening away and went back for a second (or third) delicious cupcake.
Saturday | Family Kite Fest, Ivy Spokes at Yield Bar
The 26th Annual Amish Craftsmen Guild ll Family Kite Festival was held May 24-25 at Veteran’s Park. Sponsored in part by Gift of Wings kite shop, the festival drew hundreds of spectators and kite stunt teams from the region and as far away as Montreal, Canada. Each day at noon, over 500 kites were launched simultaneously to kickoff the day’s events. If you missed it, Gift of Wings is open daily with numerous types of kite for a day along the lakefront.
Milwaukee natives Ivy Spokes lit up Yield Bar on the East Side on Saturday night. These guys call their sound “Bio-Digital Rock n’ Roll”, striking an undeniably catchy balance between pop and rock n’ roll. They released their debut EP Chaos to Cosmos in 2011 and are currently finishing their first full-length album to be released this year. Ivy Spokes plays on June 27 at 4:15 p.m. at Summerfest for the Emerging Artist Series among many other Milwaukee bands.
Sunday | Happy Hour at Brocach Irish Pub
Brocach Irish Pub’s happy hour features four different slider options and a slider flight with one of each (brisket, cheeseburger, black bean, and reuben), all served on pretzel buns. Other happy hour perks include a variety of drink and appetizer specials. Monday, May 27th marks the first Movie Monday with The Avengers starting at 8:30pm. Every Monday during the summer, Brocach screens a different movie. Movie Monday is free of charge and features 1/2 off bottles of wine, $3 Lakefront Beers, and free kettle corn at the start of the movie. The next movies showing are Django Unchained on June 3, What About Bob? on June 10, and Monsters Inc. on June 17.
