Milwaukee Art Museum 125th Anniversary Celebration
Milwaukee Art Museum, 700 N. Art Museum Drive
The origins of the Milwaukee Art Museum go back to the Layton Art Gallery, which opened in April 1888. Now more than a century later, the museum celebrates its past with a series of exhibitions throughout the building. Located in the midst of the nineteenth-century paintings, Gallery 10 will be rehung in a manner reminiscent of exhibitions styles prevalent at the museum’s founding. The history of the Layton Collection will take center stage in an exhibition co-organized with the Chipstone Foundation, and the history of the Milwaukee Art Museum will be showcased in the Baumgartner Galleria. Watch for a preview article on these exhibitions appearing in TCD this Friday.
