Boy + Kite are a new band from Austin, Texas that’s headed up by Darvin Jones, an affirmed studio rat who’s been making electronic music under the name “Postscipts” for awhile now. Jones shares vocal and guitar responsibilities with Beth Puorro, who gives Boy + Kite their feminine dimension much like Kim Gordon and Kim Deal did with Sonic Youth and The Pixies before them. Go Fly is a mellow indie-pop record patterned after the aforementioned bands, but without their whisper-to-a-scream powerhouse characteristics.

Instead, Boy + Kite keep things simple, pleasant, and effective. Jones and Puorro make for a lovely sounding vocal pair, and Jones’ production is so clean it sparkles.
