MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Oct. 13) – Wisconsin Public Radio — Milwaukee’s home for classical music on air and online — invites you to a free all-ages concert showcasing the city’s next generation of musicians, and celebrating the richness of Milwaukee’s classical music community.

[inaarticlead]In partnership with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, WPR presents the city’s second annual Classical Music Day, a two-hour one-night-only event in the MSO’s beautiful Allen-Bradley Hall at the Bradley Symphony Center on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 6:30 p.m.

Whether you’re a longtime WPR listener or simply curious about classical music, it’s a wonderful opportunity to hear extraordinary young talent in one of the Midwest’s most remarkable concert halls — all for free.

The special concert brings together performances by four of the area’s premier programs — the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra Senior Symphony, the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, the Wauwatosa East High School Chamber Orchestra, and the Marquette University Chorus — for an unforgettable evening of live performance.

Each group will take the stage in sequence, with WPR Music’s Milwaukee-based “Drivetime Classics” host Jason Heilman introducing each act and sharing interviews and insights between performances.

“The talent and joy these young musicians bring is amazing,” said Heilman. “It will be an evening that longtime classical fans will appreciate — and a perfect entry point for anyone who’s been curious about what makes this music so moving.”

WPR Director Sarah Ashworth also shared her enthusiasm. “We’re so grateful to the Milwaukee Symphony for welcoming us all into the Bradley Symphony Center” said Ashworth. “Both classical music and public radio depend on community support to thrive — and this concert is a beautiful reminder of how much joy and hope they bring when we come together.”

The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra expressed their pride to once again partner with WPR and these eminent local music programs for Classical Music Day. “There’s a spark and joy these young performers bring that reminds us why live music matters,” said Kathryn Reinardy, MSO marketing director. “We’re thrilled to welcome our community — from longtime WPR listeners to new friends — to experience something joyful together at Allen-Bradley Hall.”

The Bradley Symphony Center is located at 212 W. Wisconsin Ave. in downtown Milwaukee. Admission to the concert is free, but advance registration is recommended at wpr.org/presents. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; the concert begins at 6:30 p.m.
