WLAX Earns Three BIG EAST Weekly Honors After 2-0 Opening Week
Meg Bireley, Hanna Bodner and Brynna Nixon all honored by conference
NEW YORK – The Marquette University women’s lacrosse team earned three weekly awards by the BIG EAST on Monday after its 2-0 opening week.
Meg Bireley was selected as BIG EAST Attacker of the Week for the fourth time in her career after scoring four goals at Central Michigan and five goals against Louisville. The senior had career-highs in shots (17) and shots on goal (13) in the win over Louisville and had 1.000 shot on goal percentage at Central Michigan.
Brynna Nixon earned her second BIG EAST Defender of the Week honor of her career after going 2-0 with 11 combined saves and a .478 save percentage in MU’s 2-0 opening week. Nixon gave up just two goals in one half of action at Central Michigan and had eight saves in the win over Louisville on Monday.
Marquette travels to Cincinnati on Thursday, Feb. 20 to take on the Bearcats at 2 p.m. CT.
