WisDems Chair Ben Wikler Responds to Michael Gableman’s Anti-Semitic Comments, Calls on Speaker Vos to Fire the Special Counsel

MADISON, Wis. —  Today, Michael Gableman issued anti-Semitic comments while on the Dan O’Donnell show.

“You keep in mind Joseph Goebbels, who was Adolf Hitler’s head of propaganda in Nazi Germany, Goebbels said you give me control of a country’s media, I will turn any people into a herd of pigs,” he said. “What they’re doing over at the Journal would make Joseph Goebbels blush,” referring to Adolf Hitler’s head of propaganda.

This comes on the heels of him admitting he doesn’t understand how elections work and reversing himself twice in 24 hours on whether and how local officials would have to comply with his wildly overbroad subpoenas.

In response, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler released the following statement:

“Today, Michael Gableman went on right-wing radio and compared journalism to Nazi propaganda, all to defend his attack on democracy. This is unacceptable. Michael Gableman’s profound disrespect for our country’s democratic institutions, and for families like mine where relatives were murdered as the result of actual Nazi propaganda disqualifies him from serving in any role funded by Wisconsin taxpayers. Speaker Vos, it is time to fire Special Counsel Michael Gableman and end this sham investigation.”
