WGIRLS Milwaukee Presents Sail Away Gala Benefiting Milwaukee Diaper Mission
Local nonprofit aims to raise $15,000 this spring with the city’s support
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Apr. 4, 2023) — WGIRLS Milwaukee invites the community to attend its annual spring gala this May themed Sail Away benefiting Milwaukee Diaper Mission.
The event will be held on Friday, May 19th from 7-11p.m. at The Starling, a newly renovated event space located in Milwaukee’s historic Third Ward along the Milwaukee River.
“We are honored to support a local nonprofit that not only fills a unique and critical community need, but also aligns closely with our nonprofit’s mission of empowering underserved women and children,” WGIRLS Milwaukee President Liza Lemkuil said.
As Goes Wisconsin founder and radio show host Kristin Brey will emcee the gala with additional fundraising activities available to guests including boat tours, diaper raffle, wine and liquor pull, grand prize treasure chest and more.
Milwaukee Diaper Mission co-founders Meagan Johnson and Jessica Syburg hope the event will bring further awareness to the city’s diaper gap and how their nonprofit works to support needy families.
“Every day, families in Milwaukee are faced with critical choices in taking care of their children. Research has shown that the lack of clean diapers is linked to negative health outcomes for infants, inadequate early childhood education, and absenteeism from work or school for parents,” Johnson said. “Our goal at Milwaukee Diaper Mission is aimed at addressing this public health crisis, and we are honored to have the support of WGIRLS in achieving our mission.”
Sponsors of the gala include WaterStone Bank, Solving IT, American Family Insurance – Guerin & Associates, Inc, Jacob Baxter – Modern Woodman, West Allis Chick Fil A, Amarie Photography and Educators Credit Union.
Last year WGIRLS Milwaukee’s 2022 spring gala Havana Nights benefiting Future Urban Leaders raised over $12,000 with the support of 150 local guests and sponsors.
