Wauwatosa Mayor McBride Announces Reelection Run
WAUWATOSA – Dennis McBride, Mayor of Wauwatosa since 2020, announced today that he will run for reelection. “This election is critical,” he said. “Wauwatosa has never been a better place to live. We’ve accomplished much over the last three years and strong, experienced leadership is needed to keep moving forward.”
McBride’s priorities are maintaining the city’s financial strength, preserving Wauwatosa’s beautiful neighborhoods and parks, continuing to invest in the city’s roads, sewers and other infrastructure, and returning local control to Wisconsin’s cities and towns. He also will continue to make Wauwatosa a community welcome to everyone.
As Mayor of Wauwatosa, McBride serves on the VISIT Milwaukee and Wisconsin Center District boards of directors, promoting tourism in Wauwatosa and Milwaukee.
“I’ve worked many years in both the private and public sectors,” McBride said. “I know how to make government work effectively for everyone.”
Before becoming Mayor, he served 10 years on the Wauwatosa Common Council and two terms as Council President. He also served as a member of the city’s Board of Review and Village Streetscaping Committee and as aldermanic liaison to the Wauwatosa Historic Preservation Commission. Before becoming an alderman, he served 15 years on the Wauwatosa Civil Service Commission, including several terms as chairman.
A lawyer, McBride served as a judicial clerk to a federal judge, worked for law firms and taught part-time at Marquette University Law School. He spent 24 years as a senior trial attorney and supervisory trial attorney for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. He also worked as a public relations manager for a Fortune 500 corporation.
McBride earned a journalism degree from UW-Milwaukee, a master’s degree in public administration from Princeton University and a law degree from New York University. In 2012 he received UWM’s Alumni Citizenship Award. He was rated “AV Preeminent” (highest for legal ability and professional ethics) in a legal community poll and named a Fellow of the Wisconsin Bar Foundation for his professional accomplishments. A member of the UWM and Tosa East Athletics Halls of Fame, he twice won the Milwaukee Mayfair Marathon, predecessor to the Lakefront Marathon.
The primary election for municipal offices will be held on February 20. The general election will be on April 2. For more information on McBride and his vision for Wauwatosa, visit McBride4Tosa.com.
