Wauwatosa Mayor Ehley Elected Vice Chair of MMSD Commission
She brings her expertise in building relationships and collaboration to her role as Mayor and as MMSD Commissioner.
(Milwaukee, WI) – Commissioners of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) today elected Wauwatosa Mayor Kathy Ehley as vice chair of the District’s governing body. She joins Chair Kris Martinsek in leadership of MMSD’s Commission.
Ehley is the 16th Mayor of Wauwatosa. She served for five years as Executive Director of The Village of Wauwatosa Business Improvement District (BID) overseeing the creation of a strategic development plan for the commercial district and attracting new restaurants and shops, resulting in one of The Village’s strongest growth spurts. As a successful business owner and commercial developer, Kathy revitalized a warehouse into a thriving restaurant, retail and office space. She brings her expertise in building relationships and collaboration to her role as Mayor and as MMSD Commissioner.
Of the 11 Commissioners that run MMSD, seven are appointed by Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and subject to Common Council confirmation. The other four Commissioners are elected by the Intergovernmental Cooperation Council, which includes elected suburban leaders from within the District.
