Two Peas in a Pod: Bryan Steil Regurgitates Derrick Van Ordens Partisan Talking Points

MADISON, Wis. — WI-01 Rep. Bryan Steil has worked hard to brand himself as a Paul Ryan Republican, someone who pretends to be interested in governing and is above the partisan fray, but in actuality is just another GOP hack. Steil made that clear on right-wing radio conspiracy theorist Vicki McKenna’s propaganda radio program, where Steil copy pasted one of the talking points Derrick Van Orden uses to justify his fealty to Dear Leader Trump and not his constituents.

Steil: “If President Trump goes out and does anything positive, he could cure cancer tomorrow, and somebody would go out in protest that President Trump cured cancer.”

Van Orden: “President Trump could cure cancer today and you would want him impeached because he did not do it yesterday.”

“Bryan Steil’s Mr. Moderate act is about as sincere as his hollow stock trading bill that would still allow him and other Congress members to profiteer off their sham ‘public service’, like he already has,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Philip Shulman. “When it comes to their legislative records, Bryan Steil and Derrick Van Orden might as well be the same representative, both voting to increase health care premiums, giving massive tax breaks to billionaires like Elon Musk, and supporting cost-raising policies that are bankrupting Wisconsin families.”
