MILWAUKEE, WI – September 25, 2024- The Urban Ecology Center (UEC) is excited to announce that fundraising for the organization’s new event venue, Prairie Springs on Park, is complete! The Urban Ecology Center now turns its attention to raising the remaining $700,000 needed for a new Community Green Space at Riverside Park. The green space will transform previously neglected industrial land into a beautiful space that will span over two acres providing an inviting gathering space ideal for school activities, community gatherings, and events. This area will feature picnic tables, native plantings, bioswales, and a new trail connection into Riverside Park.

The new Community Green Space will sit adjacent to Prairie Springs on Park, a stunning eco-friendly event venue that will marry urban elegance with the enchantment of the natural world. The venue is housed in a lovingly restored Cream City brick building and is located 3 minutes from downtown Milwaukee. The event venue draws its name from the generous lead donor, Prairie Springs: The Paul Fleckenstein Trust.

“The restoration of this historical building is meaningful,” said Kassandra Scott, former UEC intern and niece of Paul Fleckenstein. “This will help ensure that the children of Milwaukee will have the beautiful and safe outdoor spaces that every child deserves. My family is thrilled to support this project. We are proud to be a part of the UEC mission of connecting people in cities to nature and each other. A goal that my Uncle Paul was so passionate about.”

Guests at Prairie Springs on Park will enjoy unparalleled views of native prairies and lush green forestry through expansive, bird-safe glass windows. With a capacity of up to 300 guests, the venue is perfect for weddings, corporate conferences, fundraising galas, retreats, and more. Standout features include a 100-person covered patio, an overlooking balcony with a 75-person capacity, and a 5,000 square-foot field ideal for ceremonies, team-building activities, and other outdoor events.

The Urban Ecology Center is proud to team up with Two Birds Event Group and join the ranks of prominent event spaces including Ivy House, The Starling, Filament, and The Society at the Milwaukee County Historical Society. The revenue generated from this venue will directly support UEC’s mission-based environmental education and outdoor recreation programs.

“It is an honor and privilege to be partnering with the Urban Ecology Center on this one-of-a-kind destination,” said Two Birds Event Group Co-Owner, Ramsey Renno. “We look forward to years of showcasing both Prairie Springs on Park and UEC to the local community and visitors alike.”

Prairie Springs on Park is scheduled to be completed Spring of 2025 and is now accepting bookings beginning April 1, 2025 .
