MADISON, WI. – The Alliance, a not-for-profit cooperative that helps employers save on healthcare, is encouraging employers to take steps to support vaccines for a healthier workplace.
“We know employers can play a critical role in the health of their employees,” said Curt Kubiak, President and CEO of The Alliance. “By supporting vaccine education and access, employers can maintain a healthy workforce and reduce preventable illnesses that affect productivity and healthcare costs.”

The Alliance encourages employers to rely on trusted and evidence-based resources for decision-making, and implement four action steps recommended by the Midwest Business Group on Health:

  • Design benefits for ease of access: Ensure medical and pharmacy plans cover routine vaccinations without cost sharing.
  • Preserve provider choice: Allow employees and their families to receive vaccinations from their primary care provider or a pharmacist.
  • Increase convenience: Offer vaccinations at accessible in-network locations, including pharmacies, doctor’s offices, onsite clinics, and worksite vaccine clinics.
  • Communicate proactively: Share your commitment and related information with employees and their families through newsletters, websites, social media, and other benefits communications.

Employers can find more resources to improve vaccine confidence and adoption on the Midwest Business Group on Health website at mbgh.org.
The Alliance is committed to sharing effective health benefit strategies with employers that save them and their employees money. To learn more cost-effective strategies that support employee health, visit the-alliance.org.
