Tailgate-flation at Lambeau: Rep. Francesca Hong, Democrat for Governor, Announces Policy to Lower Tailgate Prices at Lambeau
Hong to lower the costs of brats, burgers, and buns by supporting Wisconsin small businesses
Tailgate-flation plan to counter Tom Tiffany’s tariffs that dramatically raised price of groceries
GREEN BAY — State. Rep. Francesca Hong, Democratic Candidate for Governor, today announced a new policy she would enact as governor to lower prices for tailgaters at Lambeau by promoting Wisconsin small businesses. Hong made the announcement alongside supporters outside Lambeau Field in Green Bay on Thursday.
The Tailgate-flation Plan will lower prices of brats, burgers, buns and more by developing a public bank that allows family farms, bakeries, meat processors, and butchers to access affordable capital so they can sustainably grow their business. This will promote more competition locally, driving down food prices – for gameday and beyond.
Tom Tiffany’s tariff taxes have driven up costs across the economy. Data released earlier this month shows prices for meats and poultry have increased by over 5.6%, largely driven by tariffs.
Francesca Hong’s Tailgate-flation Plan
Every Wisconsinite should be able to host a Packers tailgate with local meat and local produce. But prices for tailgate supplies continue to skyrocket.
The Problem: Wisconsin’s family farms and small meat producers can’t compete with big industrial corporations — four national meatpackers control 70% of this country’s pork packing and 85% of our beef packing. Meanwhile, local farmers only make 14 cents from every dollar spent on meat. This leads to rising prices for tailgate supplies.
Francesca’s Solution: The state government can help Wisconsin farmers feed Wisconsin families. Hong’s policy will allow family farms and small meat processors and butchers to access affordable capital so they can sustainably expand their business.
