MILWAUKEE – Supervisor Sequanna Taylor will host a series of family-friendly summer events at county parks throughout the 2nd Supervisory District in collaboration with the Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services.

“I look forward to providing the community with an opportunity to create lasting memories while also educating people about Milwaukee history,” said Supervisor Taylor. “I want our county parks to be places where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together for fun events and community building.”

Supervisor Taylor will kick off her summer event series this Friday, May 28 at 5 p.m. with an open kickball game at Harriet Tubman Park. Events will continue every other Friday rotating between Harriet Tubman Park, Brown Deer Park, and McGovern Park all summer.

“DHHS is excited to be participating in the summer park events with Supervisor Taylor. This is a great opportunity for our team to re-connect with the community,” said Shakita LaGrant-McClain, Director, Department of Health and Human Services. “We will be on hand to meet residents and provide information about resources and services. I applaud Supervisor Taylor for planning family-friendly events that will give families, friends, and neighbors the opportunity to enjoy summer in our parks.”

The events will be split into three types: Family Game Time, held May 28, June 11, and June 25; Movie Night at the Park, held July 9, July 23, and August 6; and Educational Sessions at the Park, held August 20, September 3, and September 17. Movies screened will include Black Panther, Harriet, and Hidden Figures. Educational Sessions at the Park will teach attendees about Milwaukee history that is often not talked about.

Details on dates, times, and locations for each event can be found at Supervisor Sequanna Taylor’s Facebook page.
