Friends of the Beerline Planting New Pollinator Garden in Riverwest.
MILWAUKEE — Sept. 25, 2026 —The Friends of the Beerline Trail will be planting a new native pollinator garden along the Beerline Trail in the Riverwest neighborhood on Saturday, September 26. Volunteers will meet on the trail, just north of Café Corazon, between Bremen and Fratney Streets, starting at 10 am.
Over the summer, volunteers have been removing invasive plants in the area to establish a native wet meadow on the trail to support the endangered Rusty Patched Bumble Bee and other pollinators. Volunteers will be planting 2 Tamarack trees, 40 shrubs, and over 800 native plants. An educational sign placed at the site will tell the story of the Rusty Patched Bumble Bee and the important role it and other pollinators play in our eco system.
The Friends of the Beerline Trail is a volunteer group of neighborhood residents, organized through Riverworks, and supporting the growth and development of the Beerline Trail. This project is part of the FoBT’s 5-year plan to create a Pollinator Corridor along the length of the Beerline Trail in the Riverwest and Harambee neighborhoods.
