Statement on EPA’s replacement to Clean Power Plan

"The EPA’s proposed rule fails to address climate change while catering to special interests in the fossil fuel industry."

By - Aug 21st, 2018 12:24 pm

MADISON, WIClean Wisconsin issued the following statement after the Trump Administration announced their proposed rule to replace the Clean Power Plan:

“The Trump EPA’s roll back of  the Clean Power Plan ignores what the energy industry already knows: phasing out old coal plants in favor of clean, affordable renewable energy makes economic sense.

“While the Trump Administration tries to prop up energy sources of the past, Wisconsin is moving forward with 21st century technology.

“Wisconsin utilities already know it does not make economic sense to make investments in uneconomic coal plants. Recent announcements by utilities affirm their commitment to retire coal, transition to cleaner, renewable energy sources, and reduce their carbon emissions.

“The EPA’s proposed rule fails to address climate change while catering to special interests in the fossil fuel industry. We will continue to encourage Wisconsin’s transition to clean, home-grown energy.”

On behalf of its more than 30,000 members, supporters and its coalition partners, Clean Wisconsin protects and preserves Wisconsin’s clean air, water and natural heritage.
