Statement from Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett on the Biden-Harris Lead Pipe and Paint Action Plan:
“Milwaukee has worked steadily to keep our drinking water safe. We have invested in infrastructure and carefully managed our water works operations. However, it would have taken many decades to replace Milwaukee’s lead pipe laterals and fully remediate lead paint hazards just using local resources.
“I appreciate the great partnership we are building with President Biden, Vice President Harris, and their administration. These new resources will protect people who live in our city, help us create local jobs and, importantly, add to the confidence our residents have in the safe housing and drinking water Milwaukee provides.”
