Milwaukee, WISplash Studio: a painting bar presents Summer of #SelfieLove, an interactive mixed media exhibit, opening in conjunction with the Third Ward’s Gallery Night and Day on July 24th and 25th, 2015. The gallery, which features large-scale pieces sourced from talented local Milwaukee artists, aims to celebrate all things social. Viewers will be invited to take “selfies” in front of the pieces using props and designed chalkboards in order to create, edit, filter, and digitally publish their own personal vignettes of self-love. A reception with appetizers and drink specials will be open to the public from 6:00pm-9:00pm on Friday.

Splash Studio will also feature its signature Super Secret Glow Project (10:00pm-midnight, July 24th & 25th).  The studio will swap out its standard lighting for more than 5,000 watts of black light and its standard paint for neon black light glow acrylics. The gallery will transform into Milwaukee’s most artistic dance floor as guests jam to club favorites, and a glowing shot bar will serve delicious glow-in-the-dark shots to daring painters all night long. (Advance reservations recommended for Glow.)

“We are thrilled to bring together two of our favorite things: social media and local artists,” explains Social Media Coordinator Mary Krzyzewski. “A cornerstone of our mission here at Splash is to provide a venue for Milwaukee residents to express themselves through accessible art. By providing interactive exhibits in our studio, we hope to further encourage that mission.” The #SelfieLove exhibition includes a variety of submissions from talented local artists, including Emily Barth, Julie Freund, Emily Giles, Kate Kinser, John Kowalczyk, Sarah Opatz, Mark Rhomberg, and Tess Wynn.
