Milwaukee, WI, February 22, 2024 – Revitalize Milwaukee (RM) in partnership with Dominican Center and Amani United is bringing Milwaukee’s largest weekend of home transformations to the Amani neighborhood. The Amani neighborhood is bounded by N. 35th St. on the west, N. 15th St. on the east, W. Capitol Dr. on the north and W. North Ave. on the south.

This partnership provides the impact necessary to improve the quality of life for residents and stabilize the neighborhood. Extensive home repairs and critical updates on up to 30 homes in under 48 hours will be made possible by donors and volunteers. Block Build MKE is an extension of Revitalize Milwaukee’s year-round services and shows how a focused effort can leave a long-term impact. This year, Block Build MKE will occur on Friday, August 16, and Saturday, August 17.

“We are profoundly excited to bring this economic infusion to the Amani neighborhood, working with the long-term homeowners and residents to bring safety and security, allowing them to continue to live in the neighborhood they care so deeply about. The Amani community deserves this time and investment to make a large impact.” – Lynnea Katz-Petted, CEO, Revitalize Milwaukee

“Safe and stable housing is a human right. Everyone deserves to live in a quality home that is safe and free of hazards. We are beyond thrilled about partnering with Revitalize Milwaukee for Block Build MKE! This amazing event will help us work towards our goal of ensuring that all Amani residents have a safe and stable home.” Maricha Harris, Executive Director, Dominican Center

RM executes and conducts the largest neighborhood transformation annually in Southeastern Wisconsin. For decades, RM has assisted homeowners who are unsafe in their homes. Failing plumbing systems and water heaters leave families without water, electrical problems cause life-threatening issues, deteriorating porches collapse, and lack of grab bars and handrails leads to fatal falls for older adults. We are the only hope for many low-income homeowners who would otherwise be forced to choose between life-saving medication and life-saving repairs. Companies, volunteers and local businesses – now is the time to show your investment in Milwaukee’s future by getting involved in Block Build MKE 2024!

RM’s mission is to stabilize neighborhoods by providing free critical home repairs to low-income homeowners. Through home repairs, we improve health, increase the quality of life and stabilize neighborhoods. Since 2000, Revitalize Milwaukee has completed critical home repairs on nearly 4,500 homes with the help of next to 13,000 volunteers and invested more than $27 million into Milwaukee-area housing. We are proud to be Southeastern Wisconsin’s largest provider of free critical home repairs. Join us in changing the lives of countless low-income homeowners.
