Ryan Solen officially invites Paul Ryan to debate October 29
Ryan Solen has made every effort to accommodate Paul Ryan and eagerly awaits his RSVP.
Mount Pleasant, WI- Today Ryan Solen’s campaign hand delivered a debate invitation to opponent Paul Ryan. Solen has been asking Ryan to debate since they became the nominees of their respective parties for Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District following the August partisan primary. The Ryan campaign never responded to the requests. When Solen’s Chief of Staff arrived this afternoon at Ryan’s campaign headquarters in Janesville, the office was closed despite their voicemail listing their hours as being from 9AM to 4PM, Monday through Friday, and two voicemails from Solen’s campaign asking that someone be there to accept the letter. To avoid the invitation getting lost in a slew of other mail, Solen’s representative eschewed the mail slot and taped the sealed invitation to the door where it wouldn’t get overlooked.
Ryan Solen has reserved space at Blackhawk Technical College for October 29 from 2PM to 4PM. The moderator will be Mike Daly of Janesville’s The Big AM 1380. Solen’s campaign has done all the organizing and is paying for the event. All Paul Ryan will need to do is RSVP by 5PM on October 28, allowing him plenty of time to both schedule and prepare. Solen specifically booked a venue in Ryan’s hometown of Janesville for the Speaker’s convenience and chose a weekend day as Ryan has made it a condition of his accepting the Speakership to be in Janesville every weekend despite his busy schedule during the week.
Ryan Solen has made every effort to accommodate Paul Ryan and eagerly awaits his RSVP. While he hopes the Speaker will accept the invitation, should Ryan decline, Solen will still hold the event and answer questions from both moderator Mike Daly and the audience in a Town Hall format. Media and the public are welcome to attend.
