Rep. Rodriguez Statement on Introduction of COVID-19 Response Legislation
MADISON – Today, Assembly Democrats announced comprehensive legislation to address the COVID-19 pandemic throughout Wisconsin. Rep. Sara Rodriguez (D-Brookfield) issued the following statement:
“We are proud to hit the ground running by introducing legislation on day one of the 2021 legislative session to combat the COVID-19 pandemic here in Wisconsin. As a nurse and as an epidemiologist, I can tell you that we are still in crisis; on average a Wisconsinite is diagnosed with COVID every minute and every hour someone dies from COVID. We need to make protecting the health and safety of Wisconsin families and the economic recovery a priority. The legislation that Democrats are introducing is a bridge that will allow us to save lives and the economic livelihood of Wisconsin families while we implement widespread COVID vaccinations. Without immediate action, our state faces a difficult recovery, both from a public health perspective and an economic one.
“After months of inaction, I call upon Assembly Republicans to enact measures ensuring Wisconsinites will have the relief they need and a path to economic recovery. Our COVID-19 Response Plan continues the critical work of helping families and businesses in every corner of Wisconsin.”
Rep. Rodriguez represents the 13th Assembly District, which includes the Village of Elm Grove, Town of Brookfield, and parts of the City of Brookfield, Wauwatosa, West Allis, and Milwaukee
