WASHINGTON, DC – Today, S. 619, the COVID-19 Origin Act, passed the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously. This bill requires the Director of National Intelligence to declassify information relating to the origin of COVID–19.

Recently, reports have revealed the increasing plausibility of the “lab leak theory.” Several federal agencies now assess that the virus most likely did in fact emerge from a lab leak. The Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic even released a memo suggesting, “Dr. Fauci ‘prompted’ the drafting of a publication that would ‘disprove’ the lab leak theory.”

Regardless of outcome, the American people deserve to know the truth, and House Republicans are committed to uncovering how and why COVID-19 came to be.

“After the destruction COVID-19 and lockdown policies unleashed across the globe, determining where and how it came into existence must be a priority, said Congressman Scott FitzgeraldWe owe it to those who suffered from the virus, those who were forced to shut their businesses down, and the children who couldn’t go to school, to find answers and prevent a catastrophe like this from occurring again. I’m proud Congress passed this legislation with broad, bipartisan support, and I urge President Biden to sign it into law promptly.”
