Rep. Fitzgerald Votes to Fix Greenfield Zip Code Issue

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) issued the following statement in response to the passage of H.R. 8753, to direct the United States Postal Service to designate single, unique ZIP Codes for certain communities.

This legislation would mandate that the U.S. Postal Service designate a unique ZIP Code for 51 municipalities nationwide, including Greenfield, Wisconsin.

“For many years, parts of Greenfield have been forced to share a ZIP Code with neighboring areas of Milwaukee, causing numerous issues including sales tax misapplications and delivery issues,” said Rep. Fitzgerald. “Municipalities such as Greenfield deserve their own ZIP Codes to avoid this operational confusion and bolster community identity. I was proud to vote in support of legislation to fix this problem today, H.R. 8753, which ensures that Greenfield and other communities across the country experiencing similar issues are granted their own exclusive ZIP Codes.”
