Rep. Andraca Applauds Creation of Office of Violence Prevention
Governor Announces New Office, Gun Safety and Violence Prevention Efforts
MADISON, Wis. – Today, Governor Tony Evers signed an Executive Order creating a statewide Office of Violence Prevention and announced his plans to include comprehensive gun safety reform and violence prevention initiatives in his 2025-27 Executive budget.
“Every Wisconsinite deserves to live, work, and play free from the threat of violence in their community, so I thank Governor Evers for taking action to create a state-level Office of Violence Prevention. By partnering with stakeholders ranging from law enforcement, school districts, local violence prevention leaders, and gun owners, I believe this office will make great strides in helping to interrupt the cycle of violence we have seen far too often in communities in every part of our state.
“While this office represents a critical step in bolstering our efforts to keep our neighborhoods safe, this office can’t fix every problem. Our constituents are also depending on their elected leaders in the State Legislature to take action. I look forward to working with Governor Evers, as well as Republican and Democratic colleagues in both legislative chambers, on measures that we know can reduce the cycle of violence and keep our friends and families safe.”
