Pete’s Fruit Market invites community to one year anniversary celebration
Pete’s Fruit Market is a full-service grocery store offering a wide range of fresh foods and produce items.
Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs wants residents to be a part of the celebration as Pete’s
Fruit Market marks its first anniversary during FREE special festivities scheduled from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. TOMORROW – Saturday, October 13 at the store’s location at N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. and W. North Ave (2323 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr.).
Located in Bronzeville and the heart of the Historic King Drive Business Improvement
District, Pete’s Fruit Market is a full-service grocery store offering a wide range of fresh foods and produce items.
Alderwoman Coggs said the celebration is a point of pride and hope in the community
because of the years-long battle to bring a full-service grocery store to the location. “The anniversary celebration tomorrow means so much to the neighborhood because residents pushed back and said they wanted more when developers eyed the location for a dollar store,” she said.
“Their voices were heard loud and clear and I worked in partnership with them to help
bring Pete’s here. The rest is history and tomorrow we will have fun and family-friendly activities to mark the first year of Pete’s offering fresh and nourishing foods at that location,” Alderwoman Coggs said.
Saturday’s celebration will be hosted by Kwabena Nixon and DJ Vel and will include
food specials, food trucks, fun activities for kids, spoken word and giveaways. There will be a special program starting at 2:30 p.m.
