Passage of Hispanic Heritage Month
State Representative Sylvia Ortiz-Velez is excited to announce the unanimous passage Of AJR 83 by the Wisconsin State Assembly recognizing September 15th to October 15th 2025, as Hispanic Heritage Month in Wisconsin.
State Representative Sylvia Ortiz‑Velez, issues a heartfelt thank you to all the Bi-Partisan Co-Sponsors, and the entire Wisconsin State Assembly for unanimous passage of AJR 83, recognizing September 15th to October 15th 2025, as Hispanic Heritage Month in Wisconsin. It will now be messaged to the Senate. If it passes the Senate, it will be the first time an AJR of this type has ever passed both the House and the Senate in Wisconsin’s State history according to Richard Loeza, Senior Legislative Analyst.
The resolution is not partisan and is a statement of appreciation for neighbors, workers, veterans, and business owners who are building Wisconsin’s future. This observance honors the hard work, service, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Wisconsinites who are helping strengthen our state’s economy, enrich our communities, and uphold Wisconsin’s proud traditions of faith, family, and patriotism.
Across the state, Hispanic and Latino families are helping revitalize small towns and urban neighborhoods by opening businesses, buying homes, restoring vacant properties, and supporting local schools and churches. Hispanic and Latino Wisconsinites share the same core values cherished across our state—faith, family, hard work, and service to community and country.
