Northwestern Mutual making an impact in Milwaukee neighborhoods
Statement of Common Council President Cavalier Johnson August 24, 2020
Recently, Northwestern Mutual announced $2 million in grants supporting nonprofit organizations serving Milwaukee’s Amani, Metcalfe Park and Muskego Way neighborhoods. I commend Northwestern Mutual for their steadfast dedication to these neighborhoods that are far too familiar with racial and economic injustices.
Since 2013, the organization has contributed more than $26 million as part of their strategy to promote community-led change, and it has proven successful. Their focus on improving housing, education and safety by uplifting local partners has led to noticeable growth.
I also want to thank and acknowledge the nonprofit organizations throughout the city working daily to better our community. For us to create and sustain lasting change it will truly take a village, and Milwaukee’s corporations and nonprofits are working together in the name of improving quality of life for residents, which will better our entire city.
