#MUBB Falls 71-63 At Dayton Saturday Night
Golden Eagles open BIG EAST Play Wednesday vs. Butler
The No. 6/4 Marquette University men’s basketball team (9-2, 0-0 BIG EAST) dropped a 71-63 decision at Dayton (9-2, 0-0 Atlantic 10) in the non-conference finale Saturday night at UD Arena.
Marquette led by as many as 13 points in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Flyers would continue to chip away and eventually take the lead just over halfway through the stanza. Dayton shot over 50 percent from the floor following intermission to rally for the victory.
The Golden Eagles led 36-26 at the intermission on a coast-to-coast layup by guard Chase Ross and were up by as many as 13 points. MU shot 46.2 percent from the floor overall and held the Flyers to just 9-of-25 from the field and forced seven turnovers. Ross led all scorers with 11 points in the first half.
Notables:
- Marquette now leads the all-time series 21-15, with tonight’s meeting the first since 2008-09. Dayton will visit Fiserv Forum in 2025-26.
- Kam Jones played just 12 minutes in the first half after picking up two early fouls
