MPD investigates incident involving federal agents

The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred on Monday, September 14, 2020, on the 3200 block of W. Lincoln Avenue.

At approximately 2:46 p.m., federal agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Task Force were conducting an investigation on the 3200 block of W. Lincoln Avenue. The agents observed the target of the investigation and attempted to take him into custody but he fled on foot. As federal agents were trying to apprehend the suspect, the suspect discharged a gun and sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect, a 23-year-old man from Milwaukee, was pronounced deceased on the scene. No federal agent was injured and no federal agent discharged a firearm. Milwaukee Police Department members were not involved in the incident.

MPD’s Homicide Division will lead the investigation.
