(MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN, August 25, 2025) – Firefighters, Police Officers and first responders who courageously lost their lives on 9/11 in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C. will be honored by the Greater Milwaukee Fire and Police Pipes and Drums at a memorial tribute at Milwaukee’s City Hall.

This memorial will take place on Wednesday, 9/11/2025, on the City Hall Plaza located on East Wells and North Water Street, at 7:46 am, the exact time that the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. The historic City Hall bell will ring three times, once for each location that the terrorists struck: the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and at a remote field in Shanksville, PA. A solo piper from the band will play “Taps” followed by a solo piper playing “Amazing Grace” and then joined by the rest of the Pipe Band for two more verses. After “Amazing Grace” has been completed, the Pipe Band will play “Honor Our Fallen.” Upon completing “Honor Our Fallen,” the Pipe Band will disperse in silence.

This tribute is consistent with our mission statement to “Honor Our Fallen and to Never Forget Them.” The Greater Milwaukee Fire and Police Pipes and Drums wants to bring this tragic event in our nation’s history to the attention of the entire community, particularly to younger generations that have grown up in the last 24 years.
