Greater Milwaukee Fire and Police Pipes and Drums to Pay Tribute to Those That Made the Ultimate Sacrifice on 9/11

(MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN, September 7, 2023) – The Greater Milwaukee Fire and Police Pipes and Drums will honor those Firefighters, Police Officers and first responders that courageously lost their lives on 9/11 in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C.

This tribute will take place on Monday 9/11/2023 at 7:46 am, the exact time that the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center, on the Milwaukee City Hall Plaza located on East Wells and North Water. The City Hall bell will ring three times, once for each location that the terrorists were involved. A solo Piper will play “Taps” followed by a solo Piper playing “Amazing Grace” and joined by the rest of the Pipe Band for two more verses. After “Amazing Grace” has been completed the Pipe Band will play “Honor Our Fallen.” Upon completing “Honor Our Fallen” the Pipe Band will disperse in silence.

This tribute is consistent with our mission statement to “Honor Our Fallen and to Never Forget Them.”

It is also the Bands desire to bring that tragic event to the attention of everyone, especially the younger generations that may not know of 9/11.

WHAT: 9/11 Memorial Tribute – Greater Milwaukee Fire and Police Pipes and Drums Pipers performing “Amazing Grace” and “Honor Our Fallen” as a tribute to those lost on 9/11.

WHEN: The performance will begin at 7:46 am, September 11, 2023 with the tolling of the City Hall bell at the same time the first plane struck the north tower of the World Trade Center.

WHERE: The plaza on the corner of East Wells and North Water Street in front of Milwaukee’s City Hall.

WHO: Individual Pipers will play “taps” and “Amazing Grace.” The Band will join in on “Amazing Grace” for a second and third verse. After the completion of “Amazing Grace” the Band will play “Honor Our Fallen”. Upon the conclusion of “ Honor Our Fallen” the band will disperse in silence.
