Milwaukee, WI – October 28, 2022 – Milwaukee Ballet presents the exquisite dark beauty of Michael Pink’s Swan Lake. Opening November 3, the production runs through November 6 with six performances at Marcus Performing Arts Center. This program marks the start of the Company’s 2022/2023 Season of Timeless Tales, which has been carefully curated to transport audiences through story, music, and dance.

From romance to betrayal, from good to evil, Swan Lake takes audiences on an epic journey through human emotions, love, and loss. Choreography by Milwaukee Ballet Artistic Director Michael Pink after Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov will showcase the stunning talents of Milwaukee Ballet Company. Tchaikovsky’s romantic score will be played by Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra under the direction of Conductor Andrews Sill.

Swan Lake is the perfect way to begin our season,” said Pink. “With lavish costumes, beautiful scenic and set design, lighting by Emmy-winning Lighting Director David Grill, a story that will captivate existing and new patrons alike, and our Company Artists performing at their peak technical brilliance, this production lacks for nothing.”

Milwaukee Ballet Artists Marize Fumero and Alana Griffith return to the roles of Odile (Black Swan) and Odette (White Swan), respectively. In the alternating cast, Marie Harrison-Collins will portray Odile, with Lizzie Tripp as Odette—the first time both Artists are taking on these iconic roles. Randy Crespo and Parker Brasser-Vos share the role of Prince Siegfried, and Davit Hovhannisyan will take the stage as the sorcerer Count von Rothbart.

Story Summary

Von Rothbart and his accomplice Odile reveal their evil intent to seize the crown. The young prince Siegfried and his sweetheart Odette play by the lake side. Von Rothbart curses Odette and her friends, transforming them into swans by day and women by night. Odette is lost to the prince until his 21st birthday when he is reunited with her. Von Rothbart’s deception leads to his downfall. Odette and Siegfried’s death unites them forever in each other’s arms.
